Use this interactive grid to explore how error counts, severity, and word count affect the scores in this LISA-based calculation. The grid calculates results from the values you enter; it does not read or evaluate a translation. A reviewer must first identify errors and assign their categories and severity.
The example starts with 5,000 translated words. Replace this with the word count of the material being evaluated, and enter error counts for that same material. Use nonnegative whole numbers for errors and a positive whole number for the word count.
Explore Error Counts and Severity
To try the calculator, change one value at a time and move out of the field to see the updated results:
- Enter 1 in the Minor column of the Consistency row. Compare the calculated Total with Max. allowed for that row.
- Try an error in the Major or Critical column to see how severity changes the weighted score. The Total score is weighted, so it is not simply the number of errors entered.
- Compare each category result with the result in the bottom Total row. GREEN means the score does not exceed the corresponding threshold; RED means it exceeds that threshold.
The category thresholds depend on the word count, and the overall result compares the combined weighted score with the combined threshold. A category can therefore show RED while the overall result remains GREEN. These indicators describe the calculation shown here, not an independent certification of quality. Review the individual findings and the agreed project requirements before making an acceptance decision.
Clear the Grid and Try Another Scenario
Select CLEAR to remove the word count, error entries, and calculated results. Enter a new word count before entering further errors. Comparing scenarios can help explain the scoring, but the word count should not be changed merely to obtain a different outcome for the same evaluated material.
